Greetings everyone, just wanted to give you the latest up date on what has been going on since I returned to Russia one month ago. I shared with many of you that I felt that the Lord was leading me to make steps to move to Italy and to be apart of the work the Lord is doing through Calvary Chapel Montebelluna in northern Italy. This desired to go in a new direction in my ministry began last August. As some of you know there is a yearly Western European missionary’s conference Held at the CC Castle in Austria. I was not planning on going since I had been the year before and would not have gone without the prompting of my missions Pastor Matt Phillips. Consequently my roommate at the conference was Pastor Craig Quam the pastor of CC Montebelluna Italy. I have known Craig over the last 11 years only by meeting him at the mission’s conference .After the conference Craig invited me to come and visit his fellowship in Montebelluna. It was those short 3 days in Italy that I recognized the very same prompting that I had experienced 13 years ago when I when on the short term missionary trip with CC Modesto to help at the Russian pastors conference in Moscow. That prompting of the Lord led to moving 8 months later to Moscow and work with CC Sokol.  So as it turned out 13 years later I received a similar prompting that I could not deny. After the conference I return to Moscow but the prompting never left. I supposed that some day in the future God may open a door to Italy. Mean while I was all set to receive another one year visa to live in Russia around the middle of September. September came and I still had not received the promised visa. I had a trip planed to come back to the states but my visa had expired so I was issued a temporary visa so I could leave the country. By the way I had to vacate my apartment 4 day before I was to leave for America because my landlord had sold the apartment. So I had to pack up all my stuff and store it at a warehouse. This was a blessing because I was stuck in the states for 4 months and so I did not have to pay rent, only a small warehouse charge. Dale my good friend and church elder in our fellowship was teaching in my absent. Two weeks after I left for America Dale was notified by the authorities that he had to leave the country immediately. We were both notified that everything had changed and that our visa process had to start all over and could take months, in which it did. That completely left the fellowship without a pastor/teacher. However this was all the great plan of the Lord. Because both Dale and I were out of the country Pastor Marat who pastors another Calvary Chapel here in Moscow. Pastor Marat who is a native Moscowvite  was faithful to come to our fellowship and teach for the next 4 months. (Interesting enough his fellowship meets on a Saturday because another church meets in the building on Sunday)  Now while I was waiting in America to return to Moscow the impression of moving to Italy became stronger and stronger so I though it might be a good idea to see if there was an opportunity to work in Italy. I went ahead and called Pastor Craig Quam in Italy to see if that door was opened and if there was the possibility of coming and working with the church there. Craig graciously invited me to come and sent me an invitation for a visa. I received a one year religious visa within 2 weeks of application. All the doors seemed to be wide open. Everyone I talked was very encouraging of this new step. Only one problem remained, I was in America and the church that I had pastored for 9 years did not know what was going on in my heart. All I knew is that I was being called to Italy.
What if I was wrong? What a huge mistake to suddenly return and announce to all the people I loved and some I have known for over 12 years that I was leaving. I thought that perhaps Pastor Marat who had been so faithful to Shepard the flock while I was stuck in America for 4 months would be the one to pastor our fellowship. I thought perhaps the Lord was bringing both our fellowships together under the leadership of Pastor Marat. This was my prayer, but was this the plan of God? I did not talk with Marat about what I was thinking and praying. I wanted to wait until I returned to Russian then I would share with him face to face what was going on in my life and. Well finally on February 7th I returned back to Moscow. The next day I met with Marat and ask him to pray for God’s direction. Well as it turned out God was working behind the scenes the whole time. As Marat was faithful to shepherd our fellowship week after week God did a wonderful thing. He brought together Diana one of our very faithful members and Pastor Marat and they fell in love and are now engaged. I now can clearly see that God had a great plan for bringing our two fellowships together. On March 3 we had the first service as a combined fellowship and it was very sweet. Also Pastor Marat and Diana made their engagement official in front of the church. On March 7th I left Moscow Russia my home for the last 12 years. Living in Moscow has been the greatest time in my life. I left a fellowship that I dearly loved and had the great privilege to serve for over 12 years! The Lord gave me many dear friends and I’m sorry that I could not say goodbye to you all face to face. God has done and continues to do a great work in Russia. In many ways the evangelical church is much more developed in Russia than it is in Italy. Now once again I begin learning a new language and to adapt to a new culture which is all very exciting to me. Currently I am teaching the Book of James at the CC Bible College in Montebelluna Italy and teaching the discipleship class to a group of young men. God is doing a wonderful work here in Italy. I want to thank all of you that have been a great encouragement to me while I have lived in Russia. Thank you for praying over the last 4 months as I have prepared to transition the church and to move on to Italy. To God be the glory amen!! dean

All city Calvary Chapel church gathering PSALM 133:1 Behond, how good and how pleasant it is for the breather to dwell together in unity!

As Many of you know Moscow is a very large city over 14 million inhabitance. Life can be very hectic in Moscow, and much of your time can be used up traveling for one place to the next. It also can be a very lonely and hopeless place for many. The Local church can be an Island of comfort and fellowship and refreshment for the believer. Once again we gathered together for an all Moscow city Chapel Church meeting. Pastor Morat of  CC Kasherskya taught from the word, and also the worship team of  CC Kasherskya lead us all in worship. They sang many of the early Calvary Chapel Maratha worship songs. CC 111905 prepared all the food and it was a great time for all! Also Pastor Morat announced that the Pastor Chucks Smiths (C-2000 series) Old and New Testament teaching thought he Bible is now available in the Russian language. Pastor Morat was been working diligently to have Calvary Chapel books translated into Russian. Soon we will have “ Harvest” available in the Russian language

JEWS FOR JEWS CELEBRATE ROSH HASHANNA

LEVITICUS 23 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 24 Speak to the children of Israel, saying: In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a Sabbath-rest, a memorial of the blowing of the trumpet, a holy convocation. 25 You shall do no customary work on it: and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord.

This feast that was given to the children of Israel from God is still observed all around the world by Jews. We more popularly know this feast as Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) Rosh Hashanah is one of 7 feasts given to the children of Israel to perpetually each year to observe.  Many Bible scholars recognize this 5th feast as a future fulfillment of the Rapture of the church.

Each of these feasts seems to represent a literal in God’s redemption program for mankind.
Already we have seen the fulfillment of four of the feasts in the death burial and resurrection Jesus Christ, and the Day on Pentecost when the church was birthed.

3 feasts remain to be fulfilled in the future. God is obviously not finished with His chosen people the Hebrew Nation. The Bible is clear that God’s eternal promises to Israel will be fulfilled. To say God is finished with Israel, and His promises directed towards them now are directed to the church is an extreme misinterpretation of the scriptures. As believers in Jesus Christ our promise of eternal life though Jesus Christ is not very secure if God promises to Israel are not secure.

Our eternal security in Christ is confirmed in over 100 New Testament scriptures. The nation of Israel also confirms our security as God throughout Israel’s history of rejection of the Messiah, God will one day restore the Nation of Israel back to fellowship. God will never give up on Israel. For the believer we should fine great comfort in the fact that God keeps His promises! His salvation is eternal!

PRAY FOR A SAFE JOURNEY FOR THE LIEBERHERR FAMILY

Matthias Lieberherr and family are on there way to Switzerland for a visit. Matthias moved from Switzerland to Magnigorsk Russia about 12 years ago to work with orphaned children. The idea was to give orphaned children the opportunity to grow up in a normal family setting with a mother and a father. Matthias and his wife Eva who is Russian have adopted 4 children and have 3 of their own. It is one big happy family. Please pray for the Lieberherr family as they travel by mini bus to Switzerland where Matthias parents live. Pray they have a safe journey!

JEWS FOR JESUS RUSSIA

Saturday I had the privilege to teach for the Jews for Jesus Shabbat service. It is always such a huge blessing. Jews for Jesus does a traditional Shabbat service and then share the good news of the Messiah. (Photo left Tanya, Andre, and Ilya who is on staff at Jews for Jesus Moscow.)

Pastor Kenny Hodges

On Sunday the 12th of June we had a special guest Pastor Kenny Hodges of the Emanuel Baptist Church in Starkville MS. Pastor Kenny did an over view of the Book of Romans that was very timely since we as a  fellowship are on the last chapter of a verse by verse study of the  Book of Romans. Pastor Kenny traveled to Russia to teach at the Calvary Chapel conference held outside Moscow. Ken has a heart for the Russian pastors and this was his 5th trip to Russia. Also Kenny is also a worship leader and finished his teaching by leading us in a worship song. It is always a great blessing to us to have people take the time and the expense to come and encourage us here in Russia!
